Ingredients

- 4 medium onions, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, chopped
- 28 ounce(s) plum tomatoes in thick puree
- 2 teaspoon(s) leaf thyme, crumbled
- 2 teaspoon(s) sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper
- 2 pound(s) string beans, trimmed and
- Halved
Directions
- Heat oil in dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add onion and garlic; cook, covered, stirring occasionally, 8 minutes or until softened.
- Add tomatoes, thyme, sugar, salt and pepper, breaking tomatoes with back of spoon.
- Stir in the string beans.
- Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, 25 to 35 minutes or until beans are tender.
